We are always being told by our customers that choosing the "right" dress for their bridesmaid's is a far more difficult task than finding their own wedding dress!

When you think about it this is not surprising; after all each bride will choose her bridesmaid's because they are great or long term friends or as special members of her or the groom's family. This can lead to a wide range of ages, body shapes and colouring within the wedding party making finding one dress that suits them all more difficult.

So what is the answer? Unfortunately there isn't one straightforward way to resolve this issue; it may take visiting many bridal websites, shops or looking through brochures.

Firstly you need to decide whether you want your bridesmaids in a matching colour and/or dress? If you do want them to wear the same dress and colour then the search can take a little bit longer. Start by trying a variety of styles on them and narrow down to two or three you are happy with for the theme and atmosphere of your wedding day. Next you need to try and get each bridesmaid to try on the styles and see which suits the majority or make sure that there isn't one bridesmaid that looks or feels awful in a given style. Hopefully you will find at least one bridesmaid dress they are all happy with.

We have found that more and more Brides are choosing the colour, designer and material of the bridesmaids dresses but letting the bridesmaids themselves choose individual styles, or having matching pairs of styles? This works really well when all the bridesmaids are adults and they can then choose a dress that suits their body shape and personality leading to confident happy ladies on your wedding day. Also simply by allowing them this choice we get cases where all the bridesmaids end up deciding on the same dress anyway!

Another, less frequently used idea, is to choose a dress and then vary the colours or shades that each girl will wear. So, for examples, all pastel colours, a variety of blues or a mix of green and pink. Just choose the colours that work with your colour scheme or wedding day theme.
